We have been in business for 3 years, and we are already the providers of several original products that many in the math community enjoy today. We are interested in adding birthday candles to our product line. These candles, like everything else in our shop, are geared towards the math community. At the most basic level, we are looking to offer a set of birthday candles to math teachers that will contain 3" high birthday number candles from 0-9 and roughly 2" birthday number toothpick candles 0-9. The styles of the candles should look the same. We would like to have each number be a distinct color. We are interested in selling the candles individually. The purpose is for the 3" candles to act as the base of an exponential expression and the smaller candles on toothpicks to act as the exponent. When a teacher places them on a birthday cake, she could use the large ’2’ and the small ’3’ on the toothpick to celebrate a student’s 8th birthday (2^3 = 8). We would like to know what quantity is necessary to offer these to the math community in October 2008. At the next level, we would like to offer a candle that is shaped like the greek symbol ’pi’. We would be interested in offering this in the fall as well, if possible. At the final level, we would like to offer more than just the base and exponent candles to our customers. We are interested in the manufacturing of: Math arithmetic operators: plus, minus, multiply, divide, factorial, etc. Math relational operators: greater-than, less-than, etc. Math symbols: infinity, i, x, etc. In this case, a teacher might purchase a ’<’, ’2’, and a toothpick ’5’ to denote "< 2^5", or, in other words, younger than 32. We would need these after the first shipment of the number candles, when we had an opportunity to test them in the market. In all cases, we would like the candles to be shaped like the symbol they represent. We are not interested in cylindrical candles with a sticker of the image on them, or something like that. We want the plus candle to look like the plus sign, etc. It is important to get back to us on this as soon as possible. We are making our purchasing decisions for the upcoming school year (September 2008-May 2009), and we will invest the money in other products if we do not hear from sellers. My apologies for not offering a budget for the project. We simply don’t know what kind of prices we are looking at.
